Welcome to the New Expanded GeneRef

GeneRef began as Genomics: A Global Resource in 1997. Through the last 12 years it has been affiliated with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS), then the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and is now an independent site owned and operated by SpaceRef Interactive Inc. Keith Cowing one of the original founders of Genomics: A Global Resource is now the Editor-in-Chief of GeneRef.

Over the years the site has been singularly focused on providing time sensitive news and information on a variety of topics. Today we're expanding our coverage to cover more hot button topics that our readers feel is important to them. New hot topics include a variety of health care issues with health care policy and regulation along with, but not limited to, stem cells, cloning, nanotechnology, H1N1, and personalized or preventative medicine.

We've also added interactivity on the site with the addition of comments for each story. Readers can either create an account on GeneRef which is good for all of the SpaceRef Network of sites or you can log in with your Google, Yahoo, or OpenID accounts. We'll add other methods of logging in over time.

For those of you who are familiar with the old site, the format of the wire news stories still exists. All the previous sections can be found on our home page towards the top in the middle of the page under the title "The Wire - News Headlines". We've retained the RSS feeds for our wire stories as well and will be adding more RSS over feeds over time

Twitter is fast growing social networking site and we have several accounts setup for you to follow.

Do you prefer to sit back and watch the news? We'll we've got what you want. Some of our stories will include video.

If you're a company has news we would be happy to consider writing a story, doing an interview or simply just posting your press release. Contact us to discuss these opportunities. Please note your news must relate to the topics we cover.

We're excited at what's ahead for GeneRef and we hope you'll find this is service useful.

Thank you.

Your editorial team,
Marc Boucher, Keith Cowing and Frank Sietzen
